8" f/12 Classical Cassegrain Telescope by GSO
Classical Cassegrain telescope with 8” aperture and focal ratio of f/12, ideal for visual observation and imaging of the Moon, planets, double stars, planetary nebulae, and other compact celestial objects
Folded optical design packs a focal length of 2436mm into an optical tube only 535mm long
No glass corrector plate means no chromatic aberration and fast temperature equalization and resistance to dew formation
Lightweight tube and optics for a total weight of just 20lbs, ideally matched to many mid-capacity alt-az and equatorial mounts
Dual-speed 2” Crayford focuser with 1.25” adapters with non-marring compression rings
Includes Losmandy and Vixen-style dovetail rails, shoe for finder scope, and dust cap
Optical Tube System
Open Optical Tube System Prevent Dew Formation Thus Eliminate The Requirement Of Dew Shield. Comes Includes With Dual Speed 2'' Focuser. Fixed Primary Mirror And Secondary Preventing Mirror Flop Issue In Schmidt Cassegrain. Smaller Central Obstruction Of Just 33% Allow Much Better Contrast Than Similar Schmidt Cassegrain
96% Reflectivity Dieletric Coated Aluminium
These Mirror Are Specially Coated To Provide Maximum (96%) Light Reflectivity To Get The Best Contrast Available For Image Or Visual Usage. Compund RC Telescope Are Very Compact Due To The Optical Design
Precision Dual Speed Focuser
Most Standard SCT Comes With Standard Focuser, Our Classical Cassegrain Telescope Comes With High Quality Dual Speed Linear Bearing Focuser Allow Precision Focus And Sharp Image. Linear Bearing Prevent Focuser Flexure While Focusing And Locking
High Quality Internal Baffle
Our Classical Cassegrain Telescope Are Built With highest Standard Baffled Tube To Provide Maximum Contrast And Prevent Stray Light From Disturbing Viewing Or Imaging. These Baffle Systems Only Found In Higher Quality Telescopes
The advantages of GSO Cassegrain Telescopes in summary:
Large corrected and illuminated image field due to parabolic primary and hyperbolic secondary mirror with less field curvature than with SC telescopes.
Pure reflection system without Schmidt plate, as a result even Infrared photography becomes possible at full sharpness.
Significantly quicker temperature adaption than a SC, due to open design.
Brighter image due to 99% dielectric coating on primary and secondary mirror.
No shifting, because the primary mirror is fixated
High-quality 2" Crayford focuser with micro-gear reduction and compression rings for 2" and 1.25" accessories
34% area obstruction caused by secondary mirror, comparable to SC telescopes.
Better sharpness on the optical axis due to precise mirror surfaces and the lack of a Schmidt plate
Less problems from dew: with Schmidt-Cassegrains you get condensation on the front plate, not with a Cassegrain
Interior baffles for even higher contrast
Generous backfocus allowing the use of 2" accessories.
Compact tube with only 500 mm length - can be operated with smaller mounts
Significantly less expensive than other classical Cassegrain telescopes!
