Description

The SKYWATCHER Flextube 300P Collapsible Dobsonian is a powerful 12-inch aperture telescope designed for observers who want exceptional deep-sky performance combined with a practical, space-saving optical tube design.

At the heart of the Flextube 300P is a 305mm parabolic primary mirror made from borosilicate glass. Its Radiant™ Aluminum Quartz (RAQ™) coating provides approximately 94% reflectivity, allowing the telescope to deliver bright and detailed views of faint celestial objects.

With approximately 1840 times the light-gathering power of the human eye, the 300P is particularly well suited to observing deep-sky targets. Under dark skies, its large aperture can reveal impressive detail in galaxies, nebulae and globular clusters while also providing excellent views of the Moon and planets.

The Flextube collapsible optical tube is one of the telescope's biggest advantages. Instead of requiring a full-length solid optical tube, the upper section retracts into the lower portion, reducing the overall storage and transportation footprint. The proprietary truss-tube system is designed to retain collimation when the telescope is collapsed, making setup considerably more convenient for regular observing sessions.

The telescope features a 1500mm focal length and f/4.9 focal ratio, providing a versatile optical configuration. Lower-power eyepieces can be used to explore large deep-sky objects, while higher-power eyepieces can deliver detailed views of the Moon, planets and double stars.

The 300P is mounted on a substantial Dobsonian rocker box equipped with Teflon™ bearings. This provides smooth azimuth movement while keeping the telescope stable during observation. The patented Tension Control Handle allows the amount of friction on the optical tube to be adjusted, helping the observer make smooth, precise movements and maintain the telescope's position when observing at higher magnifications.

A 2-inch Crayford-style focuser is supplied with a 1.25-inch adapter, allowing the use of both 2-inch and 1.25-inch eyepieces. The telescope also includes an 8×50 RACI finderscope and two 1.25-inch eyepieces, providing a practical observing setup straight out of the box.

The Flextube 300P stays true to the classic Dobsonian philosophy: maximum aperture, excellent optical performance and simple manual operation. There are no motors, electronics or complicated alignment procedures—simply point the telescope toward the sky and start observing.
