Description

The SKYWATCHER Flextube 250P Collapsible Dobsonian combines the impressive light-gathering capability of a 10-inch Newtonian reflector with the convenience of a compact, collapsible optical tube. It is an excellent choice for amateur astronomers who want substantial aperture for deep-sky observing without the bulk of a conventional solid-tube 10-inch Dobsonian.

At the heart of the Flextube 250P is a 254mm parabolic primary mirror made from borosilicate glass. The mirror is finished with Sky-Watcher's Radiant™ Aluminum Quartz (RAQ™) coating, providing approximately 94% reflectivity for strong light transmission and bright, high-contrast views.

The patented Flextube system allows the upper section of the optical tube to retract, reducing the overall length from approximately 44 inches to 31.5 inches. This makes the telescope considerably easier to transport and store. The collapsible design is engineered to retain collimation, making setup quick and convenient for regular observing sessions.

With a 1200mm focal length and f/4.7 focal ratio, the Flextube 250P offers an excellent balance between wide-field deep-sky observation and high-resolution planetary viewing. Its 10-inch aperture provides the light-gathering capability needed to explore a wide range of celestial objects, including galaxies, nebulae and globular clusters.

The telescope sits on a robust Dobsonian rocker-box mount equipped with Teflon™ bearings for smooth azimuth movement. The patented tension-control handle provides additional control and stability, allowing you to make precise manual adjustments and keep the telescope securely positioned on your target.

A 2-inch Crayford-style focuser is provided along with a 1.25-inch adapter, allowing the use of both 2-inch and 1.25-inch eyepieces. The telescope is supplied with two eyepieces and an 8×50 RACI finderscope, giving you everything required to begin visual observing straight out of the box.

The Flextube 250P is an ideal telescope for observers who want large-aperture performance, simple manual operation and a more portable design without moving to a computerized GoTo system.
