STARTRACKER EQ-3 motor drive - the motor drive for your STARTRACKER EQ-3 telescope

It is clear starry night. An object is in the field of view - perhaps the planet Jupiter - you note how the planet slowly moves in the field of view. You continually have to use the manual slow motion controls of your telescope to get the object back into the centre of the field of view.

But this is also possible automatically

Use the simple method of employing a tracking motor with your ST EQ3 mount. This will save you having to constantly adjust the telescope by hand. Once attached, you will then be able to concentrate much better on your observing.

The motor relieves you of this irksome burden and will track your telescope in synchronisation with the movement of the stars from now on.

The object you are observing will remain permanently in the field of view when the motor is operating!
Minor course correction is necessary using the had pad controller.

Even more features

You also receive a handbox for controlling your telescope with the ST EQ-3 motor drive. Four large keys provide 8x and 2x tracking speeds and for temporarily stopping tracking. This means you can also follow objects at higher speeds and keep them positioned in the field of view.

There is also an ON/OFF switch and a switch for selecting which hemisphere you are on. This means that the Startracker RA tracking motor can be used anywhere in the whole world. The handbox is ergonomically designed so that it is easy and safe to use even when wearing gloves.

The RA Tracking Unit and the Hand Controller do not carry any warranty on electronics. If the unit / motor gets spoiled, there is no free replacement.

⚠️ Important Operating Note

During normal use, the RA Tracking Motor gears may occasionally lock and stop rotating. This is a normal mechanical characteristic and does not indicate a fault with the motor.

If this occurs, simply press and hold either the 8× Forward (►) or 8× Reverse (◄) button on the hand controller for a few seconds. This will allow the gears to disengage and resume normal rotation. Once the motor is running smoothly again, switch back to the desired tracking speed.
